Terms & safety rules

These terms cover the early-access offer, registering interest, games floor, pool and axe-throwing sessions, and event space hire, at Chillpit ("we", "us") once we open. They're in plain English on purpose. Anything unclear, email hello@chillpit.co.uk.

1. The early-access offer

  • Joining the early-access list is free and creates no obligation on either side.
  • Everyone on the list gets 25% off one session, redeemable for 3 months from our public opening date. One discount per person; it can be used on a group booking you're part of.
  • The first 100 unique email addresses on the list also receive one free hour on the games floor (with 30 credits) on that first visit.
  • We'll email your discount code before booking opens. The offer can't be exchanged for cash.

2. Concession discount

  • 10% off any session or package for students, NHS staff and Blue Light Card holders, serving and veteran members of the armed forces, teachers and key workers, on every visit.
  • Valid ID must be shown at check-in: student ID, NUS/TOTUM or university email; Blue Light Card, NHS ID or payslip; Defence Discount Service or Defence Privilege Card, MOD 90 or veteran's card; or work ID for teachers and key workers. No ID, no discount.
  • One concession per person, applied to that person's own ticket only. It doesn't apply to venue hire, add-ons or extras.
  • Concessions don't combine with other discounts. On a first session where the early-access discount also applies, we apply whichever is larger.

3. Registering interest and enquiries

  • Registering interest in a session, package or custom build adds you to the early-access list with that choice attached. It isn't a booking and nothing is paid.
  • Event and group enquiries are answered with a plan and a price. Until we open, we hold dates provisionally and take no deposit; bookings are confirmed, and the payment terms below apply, once our opening date is fixed.
  • Prices shown on the site are our planned launch prices. We'll honour them, less your early-access discount, for anyone on the list who books in our first 3 months.

4. Booking sessions (from opening)

  • Once we open, sessions are booked and paid for online. Prices include VAT. No payment is taken before opening.
  • You can move a booking free of charge up to 48 hours before it starts. Cancellations with 48 hours' notice are refunded in full; later than that, or no-shows, are not refunded.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes early for the briefing and kit. Late arrivals eat into your session time; more than 15 minutes late and we may have to treat it as a no-show.

5. Who can take part

  • Each activity has its own age rule, set out in its section below: games floor any age (under-12s with an adult in the building), pool any age (under-16s with an adult at the table), axe throwing 18+ (14 to 17 with a parent or guardian in the lane).
  • Everyone taking part in axe throwing signs a waiver confirming they've understood the briefing and the rules. A parent or legal guardian signs for anyone under 18.
  • There is no bar and no alcohol is served or allowed anywhere on the premises. We'll refuse entry, without refund, to anyone we believe is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or who is behaving in a way that could put themselves, other guests or staff at risk.
  • If you're pregnant, have a heart condition, or an injury that affects your ability to throw or move safely, please talk to us before booking the axe lanes.

6. Games floor

  • Games access is sold per person as a wristband carrying a time window and a number of credits. Table games are free within the time; other machines deduct credits per go as displayed at the machine. The wristband isn't transferable, time isn't paused if you leave the floor, and unused credits expire when the time ends.
  • Fair-play turn limits apply when others are waiting: 15 minutes on racing simulators, the dance machine and console stations, 10 minutes on table games. Staff may ask you to rotate.
  • Credit top-ups are sold at the desk and are valid only for the current session. Credits on a wristband that was lost or removed can't be transferred.
  • Any age may play. Under-12s must have an adult in the building who is responsible for them.
  • If more than a quarter of the machines are out of order during your time, we'll extend your wristband or refund the difference. Individual machines being down doesn't qualify for a refund.
  • Food and drink stay in the lounge, not at the machines. Deliberate damage to a machine is charged at repair cost.
  • The Pit Pass runs Monday to Thursday from 6pm to closing, excluding private hires and bank holidays, and includes walk-up pool only when a table is free; it doesn't reserve one.

7. Pool

  • Tables are hired by the hour for up to four players. Cues, chalk, balls and the triangle are included; the table is on a timer, not a coin mechanism. Time starts at the booked slot whether or not you've arrived.
  • Off-peak is Monday to Friday until 6pm; peak is every evening from 6pm, Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. A session that crosses 6pm is charged at the rate in force when it starts. The Weeknight Evening Pass is a fixed block from 6pm to 10pm, Monday to Thursday, excluding private hires and bank holidays; it doesn't extend if you arrive late.
  • Walk-up tables are first come, first served. Booking ahead is free; a booked table is held for 10 minutes past the booked time, then released.
  • Any age may play. Under-16s must have an adult at the table with them.
  • No sitting or leaning on the cushions, no drinks or food on the rails, no masse or jump shots. Damage to cloth, cushions or cues beyond fair wear is charged at repair cost.
  • League night entry fees are paid on the night and are not refundable once the draw is made. The prize pot is the entry fees for that night, less nothing.
  • Bringing your own cue is fine; we're not responsible for it while it's in the building.

8. Axe-throwing rules

  • Axe sessions are 18+, or 14 to 17 with a parent or legal guardian present in the lane throughout who signs the waiver for them.
  • A coach is present in every lane for the whole session and controls when you throw and when you collect. One thrower on the line at a time; everyone else stays behind the lane's marked line.
  • Axes are carried head-down by the handle, never swung, tossed or handed to anyone blade-first. Only one axe is out of the rack per thrower.
  • Throw only at your own target. Never retrieve an axe until the coach has called the lane clear and nobody else is holding one.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required. Only equipment we supply is used; no personal axes, knives or throwing tools.
  • Ignoring a coach's instruction, or any throw the coach judges unsafe, ends the session immediately without refund.
  • The alcohol and behaviour rules in section 5 apply to the lanes in full.

9. Event space and venue hire

  • From opening, event hire is confirmed when we receive a 50% deposit; until then a date is held for 7 days only. Before opening, dates are held provisionally with no deposit. The balance is due 14 days before the event. Headcount can be adjusted by up to 10% until 7 days before; after that the confirmed number is charged.
  • Cancellation 28 or more days before the event: deposit refunded in full. 14 to 27 days: deposit retained. Under 14 days: full hire fee due. We'll always try to move the date instead.
  • Every hire includes at least one activity for all guests; we don't hire the lounge on its own. Capacities are fixed by our fire assessment: 24 for Lounge + One Activity, 30 for a Half Takeover, 60 standing for a Full Takeover, or 40 where guests are seated for a meal. Off-peak hire rates apply to hires on Monday to Friday that finish by 6pm, excluding bank holidays; all other hires are charged at the peak rate. Everyone taking part in an activity signs the standard waiver and follows the rules in sections 5 to 8; the age rules per activity apply.
  • We don't serve alcohol and there is no bar; the lounge has a snack bar with soft drinks, hot drinks and snacks. No alcohol may be brought onto the premises or consumed during a hire, and the behaviour rules in section 5 apply to all guests.
  • Catering is through our partners unless agreed otherwise. Food and drink stay in the lounge, never on the tables or in the lanes.
  • Hire runs from the agreed start to the agreed finish, including set-up and clear-down. Overruns are charged at the package's extra-hour rate per hour or part hour.
  • The hirer is responsible for the conduct of their guests and for any damage beyond fair wear and tear to the lounge, equipment or building.
  • Filming and photo-shoot hire requires a member of our staff present throughout and our written agreement on what is filmed. Chillpit branding may not be altered or obscured in the venue without agreement.

10. Damage and liability

  • You're responsible for any damage caused by deliberate misuse: damage to the lanes, range, tables, machines or kit from breaking the rules will be charged at cost.
  • We take safety seriously, but these are physical activities and minor cuts, bruises and aching arms are possible in the lanes. By signing the waiver you accept that risk as described in the briefing.
  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.

11. General

  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
  • We may update these terms. The version in force when you book or buy applies to that booking or pass.
